Abstract

The article deals with the influence of various facts of the urban environment on the quality of life, the main reasons for the poor quality of the urban environment of a large industrial center on the example of the city of Novokuznetsk are shown. It is established that the most important indicator of the quality of the urban environment for residents is its comfort, which is especially important in conditions of high anthropogenic load of the industrial region. The method of complex assessment of the urban environment at the district level in terms of the quality of social infrastructure, environmental conditions, transport infrastructure, aesthetics of the urban environment, natural and recreational potential of the environment. Security and availability of these or those components of comfort of the city environment on six districts of the city of Novokuznetsk is revealed. The methods of evaluation for each component are described in detail. The results of the assessment of the quality of the urban environment and the natural and recreational potential of the municipalities of the Novokuznetsk city district showed the unequal comfort areas for residents. Weaknesses and strengths for each urban area were identified. Materials of work can be used by local authorities to develop measures to improve the comfort of the urban environment and, accordingly, the quality of life of the population.
