Abstract

The article studies the influence of meteorological parameters on the variability of nitrogen oxide concentrations in the surface atmosphere of Saransk in the cold and warm periods of the year, their negative impact on urban ecosystems, human health, as well as the impact on the strength of building materials and structures. Aggressive influence of climatic factors and polluted atmosphere on the durability of building materials and structures contributes to the destruction of buildings. Contaminated air, especially when combined with moisture, causes premature wear, corrosion or contamination, cracking and destruction of building structures. The degree of aggressiveness of the atmosphere depends largely on the relative humidity, air temperature, wind speed, solar radiation. The level and intensity of air pollution have dynamics in time and space and are associated with seasonality, proximity to major urban highways. As input data for the conducted analysis of the meteorological parameters in the city of Saransk, we used data for the years 2014—2017. The discreteness of measurements was 20 minutes. Seasonal differences of correlation connections between nitrogen oxide concentrations and air temperature, humidity and wind speed are established.
