Abstract

The object of the study was replanted 8-year-old trees of Silver birch in the green zone of the city of Astana. In 2017 the average survival rate of the non-replanted trees was 81,2 %, while the replanted trees had 49,0 % at low locations, and 31,9 % — at high locations. The trees at low locations lagged behind the trees at high locations in growth significantly: the average height was 4,9 и 6,0 m respectively, the diameter — 4,7 и 6,1 сш. Besides, the height of the trees at low locations varied slightly (V = 11,7 %), whereas this parameter of the trees at high locations varied significantly (V = 22,4 %). The variability of the diameter was similar to the variability of the height of the trees. The dynamics of the tree growth in diameter showed that this parameter grew significantly in the non- replanted trees of Silver birch and by 2017 reached 7,8 СШ. Growing conditions affected the growth of the trees: at low locations the trees had a larger diameter (6,1 СШ) than those trees that grew at high locations (3,8 СШ). During the observation period, the height of the non-replanted trees increased by 1,5 times, replanted to low locations — 1,3 times, while the height of the birch replanted to the high locations did not change. To sum up, replanted to low locations trees grow fairly well and have similar rate of growth to the non-replanted trees just slightly falling behind. The dynamics of tree growth in diameter shows that this parameter increased significantly in non-replanted Silver birch trees. The comparative analysis of the diameter of the replanted trees to low and high locations revealed that growing conditions affect the growth of plants: at a low location trees have larger inventory indices in comparison with the trees growing at a high location.
