Abstract

It is considered that in the last decade, economic growth and urbanization have significantly complicated problems in the management of solid municipal waste. In Russia, waste management comes to the forefront of environmental problems, which is associated with an increase in waste quantities and a change in their composition. More than 90 % of all waste in Russia are located in landfills and landfills and form a significant environmental burden through the removal of land resources and emissions into the atmosphere and water bodies in waste disposal sites. In the Kaluga region, the implementation of the solid municipal waste management system is hampered by a lack of institutional capacity and a shortage of human and capital resources. This results in a low percentage of recycling of municipal waste. The article presents data on the dynamics of accumulation and use of waste. The features of waste collection and disposal in the solid municipal waste landfill in the city of Kaluga are considered. The economic aspects of waste utilization are considered in the article.
