Abstract

The first results of granulometric research of drinking water samplescollected in 21 settlements of the Primorye Region are presented in the paper. By results of this work it is possible to divide settlements of Primorye into 3 groups. Settlements with mostly the same content of suspension in tap water belong to the fist group: Anisimovka, Mnogoudobnoe, Novonezhino, Prokhladnoe and Terney. Only rough sus-pensions of 6 and 7 dimensional classes with the arithmetic average sizes of 883,76 to 1009 microns were found in the these samples; there were no particles under 1 micron. Settlements where samples contained particles consisting of 3—4 fractions with the low content of particles of 1 and 2 dimensional classes belong to the second group. These are such settlements as Spassk-Dalny, Rettikhovka and Shtykovo. The third group includes settlements Volno-Nadezhdensk, Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo, Lesozavodsk, Novy, Partizansk, Romanovka, Sibirtsevo, Smolyaninovo, Tavrichanka, Centralnoe, Chernigovka, Shkotovo, where a large number of microparticles of the 1 and 2 classes was found in water samples. Besides, the fractional structure in these settlements was followed by a wide spacing. Today in Russia there are no standards for content of nano- and microparticlesin drinking water, therefore these results are the basis for the introduction of monitoring of the dimensions of particles in drinking water.
