Abstract

The article discusses the current state of quarries Vodinskoe sulfur deposits located on the territory of Samara region in the middle Volga region. This career developed in the middle of the last century, while working Vodinskii sulfur factory. Currently, the plant is not functioning, and career notches are used as dumps of industrial and household waste. Discovered that in some of the pits remain interesting geological outcrops, there are specimens of minerals and rocks. The modern use of the territory under the landfill of industrial waste is extremely inefficient and represents a significant environmental hazard to the surrounding areas. When selecting the locations of the quarries were not considered environmental factors, including wind rose. Therefore, the current state and use of abandoned quarries contribute to the deterioration of the ecological status of the surrounding settlements. It is advisable to establish in the territory the geological natural reserve of regional importance and tourist facility on its basis, allowing to preserve the unique objects of inanimate nature, and to increase the recreational attractiveness of the region.
