Abstract

It is shown that one of the most serious environmental problems is now utilization of the resistant organic pollutants (ROP) since these chemicals don't decay or slowly decay under natural conditions and do to environment components essential harm. According to the Stockholm Convention, ratified by the Russian Federation, the most hazardous substances are the 12 persistent organic pollutants: pesticides (dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT), aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, chlordane, mirex, toxaphene, hep- tachlor); Industrial chemicals (polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), by-products (polychlorodibenzodioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF). In this paper, the author conducted an analytical review and analysis of the scientific and patent literature on the methods of disposal persistent organic pollutants. According to the analysis revealed that at present the most widely used methods of disposal are thermal and complex methods.
