Abstract

Data on summer population of birds in Olekminsk town and its suburbs are shown. The species composition and bird population density in main biotopes on the base of count data are learned. Bird population in forest habitats is typical for taiga zone. Richard's pi pit and Tree pi pit dominate in farmland in dry meadows of anthropogenic origin on the slopes of valleys. Skylark has relatively high number. The bird number is somewhat lower in the meadows of floodplains. Grain crops attract Oriental turtle doves. A colony of Rooks was discovered in the vicinity of village Neryuktyaisk-2 on the clearing of fir forest under the slope of the Lena river valley whose breeding had been never mentioned in this region of Yakutia before. Typical for Middle Lena valley’s towns bird population is formed in Olekminsk town.
