Abstract

The article considers the problems of reconstruction of historical industrial buildings of the XIX century. One of the key problems of reconstructions is the adaptation of the old industrial buildings for new fea¬tures with modern architectural and planning requirements. The possibilities of accommodation of res¬idential flats and suites in such facilities are being analyzed here. Problems of such reconstructions are complemented by the fact that most of these objects are located in the central historical part of the Rus¬sian cities. The article is about the project of reconstruction of the old textile factory in the center of the city of Ivanovo. The basis of the project proposal is the organization of a modern multi-functional atrium space for public use with the inclusion of the business area in overbuilt part.
