Abstract

The article presents data on the current levels of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous ox¬ide) from the major sectors of the economy of the Altai Republic. It was installed the main contribution of the livestock industry in the republic gas emissions and the prevalence among them of carbon dioxide (90 %) and in terms of CO2-eq. — methane emissions. It is shown that the average annual flow of the CO2-equivalent in the region of 1300—1400 Gg and it is one of the lowest in the country. It was revealed a steady trend of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector due to the gasification of the industry. A set of measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the region has been pro¬posed.
