Abstract

The potential presence of medications belonging to the following pharmacological groups: antibacterial, analgesic, spasmodicals, vitamins, diuretics and anticonvulsants, was revealed in spring water taken from five sources located in urban and rural areas of the Ivanovo region. In particular, these samples contain Furacilinum, Levomycetin, Analginum, Paracetamol, Aspirin, Papaverine, Drotaverine, Dibazolum, Acidum Nicotinicum, Pyridoxine, Carbamazepine, Furosemide. This work determines possible reasons of the presence of medicaments in the spring waters and shows the results of the assessment of spring water quality. Installing spring water catchment system, using and maintaining springs, as well as meeting sanitary protection zone requirements according to SanPiN 2.1.4.1110—02 are proposed as measures for reducing the presence of organic substances in spring water. Besides, cleaning water using household cleaning devices before drinking is recommended.
